Where have you been?

A few people asked the question about what I’ve been up to. Well, for the last two years, I’ve been working part of the time with Moon Studios on Ori and the Will of the Wisps, developing a mobile RPG with a couple startup friends, working on my own action/puzzle game, consulting with major game studios, and giving game design talks to clients like Tencent and USC.

However, for those of you who’ve been following my Twitter… you may already know that I’m creating an online game design course, along with a community to help unite and support upcoming Game Designers through the rough stages of learning their craft.

This has been three, no… four years in the making… and I’m not ready to announce the details yet. But I can say…. SOON. We’ve finished recording the major videos and a few privileged students are going to test-run the material.

I’m so excited about finally being able to reach all of the people I couldn’t before due to the limitations of 1:1 coaching. My former students have now gotten jobs at Riot, Blizzard, Sony Santa Monica and even become principal designers at places like JAM City – or opened their own card game store.

It’s been really quiet here for a long time though, so for those of you who checked in on me – I really appreciated it. It’s been pretty lonely these past two years and it meant a lot more than you might realize.
